WINGHAM – An early morning fire at a Wingham home on Feb. 11 is still under investigation by the Fire Department of North Huron (FDNH).
FDNH Deputy Chief Chad Kregar estimates the blaze to have caused $180,000 in damages.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and will be further investigated by insurance.
Firefighters were called to the scene on Mary Street shortly after 5 a.m. Kregar said the fire was called in by the property owner.
When both FDNH Wingham and Blyth stations arrived, a detached garage was fully involved.
The blaze destroyed many hobby items such as snowmobiles and four-wheelers. The heat from the fire additionally melted the siding off a nearby structure.
The homeowner was thankful that all the items destroyed are replaceable and that his family was safe.
FDNH has stated that this fire is not considered suspicious.
