Driver charged with impaired on Line 72

PERTH EAST – On May 8 at approximately 1:30 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police officer on general patrol was travelling on Perth Line 72 in the Township of Perth East, when they conducted a traffic stop.

During the investigation, the officer determined the driver was impaired; they were arrested and transported to an operations centre for further testing.

Jeffrey Lewis, 35, of North Perth, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

A 90-day administrative driver’s license suspension and 30-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
