Numerous heads of council in this region are poised to receive “strong mayor” powers under a proposal put forward last week by the provincial government.

Their tiny wings are just a-flapping, carrying them from the sunny south, where they traditionally winter, back to Canada – snowbirds, on their annual migration north.

Heads of council in North Perth, North Huron, Brockton and South Bruce are among those slated to receive “strong mayor powers’ under a proposal announced by the provincial government on April 9.

In confusing times, it is only human to look for a way to make sense of it all. Given the current political affairs of the present day, I bet many are looking for a distraction.

Remember their names: Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran, Rebecca Contois, and Ashlee Shingoose. They were more than statistics; they were mothers, sisters, aunties, and daughters – each with their own stories and families.
