F.E. Madill Secondary School exited the 2022 Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) girls’ ‘A’ basketball championship without the coveted provincial title, but the squad can still be satisfied with what was a highly successful fall season.

The Listowel U13 LL1 Cyclones hosted the Walkerton Capitals at the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex on Nov. 15, taking a decisive 8-2 victory over the visitors.

For the 150 or so fans that waited out a two-hour game delay last Friday night at the Kerr Complex, the Listowel Junior Cyclones made it worth their while with a decisive 7-1 victory over the Brantford Bandits.

The Wingham Junior Ironmen (8-6-2-1) ultimately didn’t get the win, but were able to salvage a point out of their North Pollock Division matchup with the first-place Patriots on Nov. 19 in Mount Forest.

The F.E. Madill senior girls’ basketball team are Western Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association (WOSSAA) champions after great composure and leadership led to two dominant wins on Nov. 16 in London.

The Walkerton Capitals U11 Rep B team had a successful weekend at the Stratford Aces Girls Tournament Nov. 18-20. The Capitals scored 24 goals and only allowed five goals in six games on their way to a 5-1 record, including a 5-1 win in the championship game against an undefeated St. Marys team. Tea

At its Nov. 14 council meeting, the Municipality of North Perth and the Atwood Lions entered into a lease agreement in regards to the outdoor skating amenity in Atwood.

2023 saw the return to a full cross-country season and the Listowel District Secondary School team was more than ready.

The Listowel Cyclones’ recent momentum was brought to a lurching halt over the weekend, as the Juniors mustered only one goal over two games resulting in a pair of weekend losses.
