An enthusiastic crowd of Walkerton and Hanover fans filled the stands at the Walkerton arena on Friday night, Nov. 12, to see the Barons and Hawks in PJHL Pollock Division action.

After much deliberation and a closed session of council, Morris-Turnberry will increase their contribution to the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre (BMGCC) renovation project.

Walkerton District Community School held its elementary cross-country event last week, with more than 250 students competing in eight different races.

The Hawks had a weekend of mixed results. After a disappointing 1-0 loss to Mount Forest on home ice Friday, Nov. 5, the Hawks travelled to the Zurich arena Saturday night and earned a 3-2 win over the Goderich Flyers.

The Walkerton Capitals U13 OWHL Girls team had a successful weekend at the Grand River Mustangs Remembrance Day Classic in Fergus, allowing only two goals and winning all six games on their way to winning the U13B Division. The Capitals defeated Goulbourn, Mount Forest twice, Orangeville and TCDMHA

The Wingham Ironmen (8-4-0) kicked off another weekend of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) with a big 9-1 win over the Goderich Flyers before being shut out by the Hanover Barons.

Listowel’s timing wasn’t the best when the Junior Cyclones rolled into Elmira for a Halloween matinee contest against the Sugar Kings on Sunday.

The Wingham Ironmen answered the Mount Forest Patriots’ previous shut out with a 6-3 win last Friday night at home thanks to returning players and new signees.

Hawks fans saw a far different team on Friday, Oct. 29 from the one they’ve been watching since the PJHL Pollock Division’s regular season started at the beginning of the month.

The Walkerton Hawks continue to improve, coming together as a team, but victory stayed out of reach this past weekend as hometown fans saw their Hawks take on Mount Forest on Friday evening and Mitchell on Sunday. The first game ended in a 6-4 loss, and the second in a 6-3 loss.

The Wingham Ironmen split the weekend with a 5-2 win over the Goderich Flyers, and a 3-0 loss against the Mitchell Hawks.
