Bruce County completes Master Transportation Plan

BRUCE COUNTY – The county has now completed the Master Transportation Plan (MTP) study.

The purpose of this MTP is to create a safe and reliable transportation system within the county that meets the ground transportation needs of all persons and businesses to the year 2035.

This MTP study forms the basis to guide future transportation decisions for the development of county roads, trails and cycling lanes, as well as the county’s role in public transit services.
The study was carried out in accordance with phases one and two of the master plan process outlined in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015).

The MTP study identified and defined existing constraints as well as opportunities to evaluate solutions in order to provide a safe, efficient, environmentally and economically sustainable, transportation network. The recommendations of the MTP study were approved by the Bruce County transportation and environmental services committee this past July.

A master plan report (MPR) has been prepared to document the planning and decision-making process for this study. The MPR is available for a 30-day review period starting Sept. 28 and ending Oct. 29, in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Class EA. An electronic copy of the MPR is available for viewing at on the county’s website, www.brucecounty.on.ca.
