WINGHAM – Changes are coming to Braemar Retirement Centre in Wingham.
In a press release from administrator Archie MacGowan on Thursday, Braemar announced that the retirement home portion of the facility will close on May 15.
Braemar also operates a nursing home at their facility on Josephine Street in Wingham.
“The Braemar Retirement Centre regrets that we must inform the community that we have come to the difficult decision to close the Retirement Home as of May 15th, 2021,” states the press release.
According to the press release, Braemar has “decided to focus our attention on providing exceptional long-term care to the community, both in our current premises and, in the future, a new building.
“We understand this will come as a surprise to many. We want to assure residents, their families and the community that we will continue to provide as much information and support as we can throughout this transition.”
MacGowan, in the press release, stated that residents will continue to receive care and services between now and May 15, and that they will do “everything we can to make this transition as seamless and as painless as we can for everyone.”
“I’m grateful for the many contributions the residents and their families have made to the Braemar community during their time here and feel confident that the residents will find a comfortable, safe environment for their next home,” said MacGowan.
“That said, I will miss each and every one of them.”
