PALMERSTON – The Palmerston Lions Club are holding a bottle drive on April 25. All proceeds will go to the local food bank and hospital.
Club members are asking Palmerston residents to set separate bottles and cans and have them placed in bags and boxes at the end of their driveways by 9am on Saturday.
“Social distancing will be in effect. However we would love a wave or two,” notes Judith Vines, one of the organizers.
Vines said the idea began as a pickup-on-request concept, but response was so strong the club decided they will need to drive around streets throughout town to make pickups.
With social distancing requirements ruling out many types of fund-raising, Vines said a bottle drive seems like a good solution.
“It’s a very scary time and if people feel they are helping in some small way, then that helps them out too,” she said.
