ELMWOOD -  Leader of the Ontario Green Party Mike Schreiner attended the Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week (GBFW) in Elmwood on Jan. 7, using his appearance to reiterate support for beef farmers and urge greater investment in the province’s food processing sector.

WALKERTON - The Walkerton District Community School (WDCS) became the first of three local high schools to receive its race car on Dec. 5 for a new regional competition that combines trades training with motorsports.

WALKERTON - Sacred Heart High School opened its gym to eager students of varying ages on Nov. 26 for a trades fair, aimed at showing young people the wide range of career paths available in the skilled trades.

WALKERTON - The Walkerton District Community School (WDCS) girls basketball team achieved the deepest Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) run in the school’s history after advancing to the quarterfinals in the ‘A’ division tournament held Nov. 21–23.

MILDMAY - Not even a snow squall could stop the annual Hanging of the Green in Mildmay on Nov. 28, as the streets were full of community members and holiday cheer to celebrate the start of the Christmas season.

WALKERTON - Street vendors, dazzling lights and Christmas decor lit up main street on Nov. 20 during the Walkerton Christmas Market, where holiday shopping was made easy for community members.

MILDMAY - Receiving the Citizen of the Year award from the Mildmay Lions Club on Nov. 17 was country music star Owen Riegling, a local musician who “put Mildmay on the map” according to Lions Club members.
