CHESLEY - The Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) reported a decline in workplace violence incidents across its schools, while emphasizing continued investment in prevention, training and support for staff and students.

BELMORE - After needing to reschedule due to weather conditions, the Walkerton Figure Skating Club (WFSC) finally held its annual Challenge and Cheer competition at the Belmore Community Centre on March 7.

WALKERTON - The Walkerton Figure Skating Club (WFSC) wrapped up its season with a sugary theme Tuesday evening as skaters of all ages performed in the club’s year-end ice show, A World of Sweets, at the Walkerton arena.

WALKERTON - Grade 6 and 7 students from Walkerton District Community School stepped onto the ice in early February to learn the basics of curling during two visits to the Walkerton Curling Club.

WALKERTON - The theme “I will give you rest: come,” drawn from Matthew 11:28-30, will guide this year’s World Day of Prayer (WDP) service in Walkerton, set for Friday, March 6 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church. A Service will also be held at Brucelea Haven and Maple Court at 10:30 a.m.

The Bruce County Library’s Walkerton branch once again delivered a sweet Valentine’s Day surprise to residents at Brucelea Haven.

Activities were held across Brockton over the weekend to celebrate Family Day.

WALKERTON - Members of the Walkerton Figure Skating Club participated in Skate Ontario’s Provincial Series #11 competition Jan. 30 to Feb. 1 at the Vollmer Complex in Windsor, competing against figure skaters from across the province.

WALKERTON- Efforts honouring the memory of Walkerton District Community School (WDCS) students Olivia Rourke and Kaydance Ford are continuing with scholarships awarded and funding directed toward under-resourced athletics and trades programs in local schools.

WIARTON - Walkerton District Community School (WDCS) student Leopald Baker put identity on display at the Wiarton Branch Library this month, hosting a student art show that blended realism and fantasy while exploring themes of identity, perspective and human connection. 

MILDMAY - Bank of Montreal (BMO) Regional Vice President Cheri Knott addressed residents during an information session in Mildmay on Jan. 15, following the bank’s decision to close branches in Mildmay and Walkerton, relocating services to a new Hanover facility.
