We are heartbroken to share the sudden passing of Sherry (MacDonald) Collins of Listowel. Sherry passed away at her home on Thursday, April 23, 2026 after a hard-fought battle with a prolonged illness.
Sherry was a deeply loving mother to Amanda Sedlmeir (Dave Sedlmeir), Derek McIntosh (Jon Yep), and Blake McIntosh (Rebecka de Bruyn). She was also an incredibly proud grandmother to Owen, Peyton, Oskar, Bella, and Viktor, and nothing brought her more joy than time spent with them. Those moments were never long enough in her eyes—she cherished each one.
In her younger years, Sherry had a natural athleticism, a wicked baseball arm, and a love for sports that reflected her vibrant and energetic spirit. She found happiness in life’s simple comforts—cooking meals, getting lost in a good book, gardening, organizing her space and creating a warm, welcoming home. She especially treasured playing cards and cribbage with her dad, often with a smile when she came out on top.
Sherry had a generous heart and a quiet strength. She was always ready to lend a hand, often taking on more than anyone would expect without hesitation. Her kindness, resilience, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Above all else, her greatest joy was the time she spent surrounded by family and friends.
She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her father, William MacDonald; her siblings, Angie Hamilton, Shelly Carter (Matt), and Allan MacDonald (Julie Mitchell); her extended family; and her beloved dog, Tucker. Sherry was predeceased by her mother, Patricia MacDonald, in 2024. There is comfort in believing they are reunited, watching over those who loved them.
In honour of Sherry’s memory, we encourage a simple act of kindness – because you never truly know what someone else may be navigating. Sherry spent time engaging with services and the community of Choices for Change in Listowel, which recently amalgamated into the Canadian Mental Health Association. We kindly ask that any donations made in her memory to be sent to:
Canadian Mental Health Association
Huron Perth Addiction and Mental Health Services, 380 Hibernia Street. Stratford, ON, N5A 5W3
Donations may also be made through Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
A Celebration of Sherry’s life was held at Parkview Gardens (565 Elizabeth St. E., Listowel) on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with words at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
