Maria Izaltina (Borges) Duarte of Listowel passed away at Fordwich Village Nursing Home on Thursday, October 9, 2025, in her 77th year.
Wife of Jaime Duarte.
Mother of Julie & Bernie Immink of Listowel, and Larry Duarte of Fergus. Grandmother of Jon, Blair, Jenna, Adelaide, and Judah, and great-grandmother of Jace.
Sister of Ana Couto of Listowel, Eugenia Neves of Brampton, and Lucia & Jose Couto of Listowel, Francisco & Delores Borges of Terceira, and Rita Veigas of Toronto, and sister-in-law of Rita Borges of Listowel, Maria & Jose Santos of Portugal, Eduarda Canhoto of Cambridge, Ludgero & Olivia Duarte of Listowel, Carlos Duarte of Azores, and Diogo & Maria Joao Duarte of Cambridge.
Predeceased by her parents Jose & Ana (Dinis) Borges, her sister Teresa (Domingos) Fernandes, Maria (Frank) Machado, brother Joe Borges, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Frank Neves, Frank Couto, Manuel Veigas, and Joaquim Canhoto.
Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with parish prayers at 5:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Listowel, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
