Lloyd Thomas Hurst of Listowel, passed away with his family at his side, at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Monday, January 13, 2025, in his 84th year.
Husband of Mary Ann Hurst.
Father of Thomas & Michelle Hurst of Orillia, Kevin & Ang Hurst of Sebringville, Michael & Carrie Hurst of Palmerston, and Stephen & Jenine Hurst of Listowel.
Loving grandfather of Kennedy, Everett, Warner, Quintan, Kaeden, Luke, Logan, and Carter. Brother of Glen Hurst of Atwood, and brother-in-law of Carolyn Siopiolosz of St. Clements. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Lloyd was predeceased by his parents Thomas & Marie (Riddell) Hurst, his sister-in-law Jo-Anne Hurst, by Mary Ann’s parents Joseph & Irene (Mailloux) Siopiolosz, and by her siblings Joseph Jr. Siopiolosz, Geraldine Anderson, Annette Herrgott, Eleanor Cowan, Dolores Bugera, and Robert Sr. Siopiolosz.
Lloyd was born in Elma Township on August 17, 1941, to Thomas and Marie (Riddell) Hurst. He married Mary Ann Siopiolosz on December 4, 1971. Lloyd was the proud founder and owner of Lloyd Hurst Transport Ltd. and had a lifelong passion for driving, which he continued into his retirement.
In his youth, Lloyd enjoyed playing hockey and baseball, and he had a love for all kinds of sports. As he started his own family, he continued this passion by supporting and avidly watching his sons and later his grandchildren in their sports activities.
Lloyd looked forward to his annual trips to Florida, where he spent time in the sun, by the pool, and with friends he made there. In retirement, Lloyd enjoyed his multiple daily trips to Ralph’s Service Station, where he engaged in lively conversations and shared ideas to solve the world’s problems.
Lloyd will be fondly remembered by his family and friends. He leaves behind a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Thursday, January 16 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with prayers at 3:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Listowel, on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Reception followed.
Spring interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Elma Township.
