Beverley Ann (Smith) Harper of Listowel passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Beverley was born in Ingersoll on May 3, 1937. She was the cherished eldest of four children.
Wife of the late Bob Harper (1997) and the late Bill Harper (2023).
Mother of the late Scott Harper (1972), Brant Harper of Listowel, and Graham & Heather Harper of Orillia, and grandmother of Hayden.
Sister of Lloyd & Joyce Smith of Comox, B.C., and Yvonne Dubois, and Marilyn Bennett, both of London.
Also sadly missed by Bill’s daughter Debbie Evans and her family.
After completing high school, Beverley began her career working in an office. Her life took a joyful turn when she met and married Bob Harper. The couple moved to Toronto, where they welcomed their three beloved sons, Scott, Brant and Graham. From Toronto, they transitioned to a farm outside of Atwood, and later settled on Orange Hill Road near Gorrie.
As her sons grew, Beverley continued to work, first at Peoples in Listowel and later at Braemar Retirement Centre in Wingham, where she concluded her career. Upon retirement, she delighted in spending winters in Florida with Bill, enjoying the warmth and sunshine while making new friends.
Beverley was known for her love of travel, always keeping her atlas close to follow the journeys of family and friends. She was an avid reader and an active member of a book club, treasuring the vibrant discussions they shared. Her thoughtful nature shone through in the many cards she sent for all occasions, often accompanied by a carefully chosen story or poem.
In her later years, Beverley found joy in daily, weekly, and monthly telephone calls and visits with loved ones. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the loving, thoughtful ways that made her a cherished mother and a dear friend to many.
Beverley leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be deeply missed by all.
