2020 Howick-Turnberry Fall Fair cancelled due to COVID-19

HOWICK – The Howick-Turnberry Fall Fair is the latest event to be cancelled this year due to COVID-19.

The Howick Agricultural Society (HAS) announced the cancellation in a Facebook post on May 20.

Howick Agricultural Society president David Scherpenzeel said in the statement that this decision was very difficult to make.

“Although we would love nothing more than to host this anticipated annual reunion of friends and neighbours, it is with heavy hearts that we must cancel the 161st Howick-Turnberry Fall Fair,” wrote Scherpenzeel.

“The Board of Directors knows that in order to ensure our friends and neighbours are able to join us again next year, we must celebrate this season from our homes. We want to ensure that our countless volunteers, exhibitors and visitors are safe.”

Added Scherpenzeel, “Although this was a tough decision to make, we know that next year’s reunion will be even sweeter.”

The 161st Howick-Turnberry Fall Fair was to run Sept. 25-27 at the Howick Community Centre.
