BELGRAVE – A Wingham resident is facing a number of charges following a recent traffic stop conducted by Huron County OPP in Belgrave.
On Aug. 26 just before 10 p.m., police say an officer saw a vehicle speeding in a 50 km/h speed zone. The officer conducted a traffic stop, learning that the driver held a suspended driver’s licence.
Police also say they learned the vehicle had been taken without consent.
The driver was placed under arrest.
Police say the officer also found the accused in possession of a stolen credit card.
The accused, 35-year-old Kristen Hopper of Wingham, has been charged with take motor vehicle without consent, possession of a stolen credit card, drive while under suspension, and speeding.
Hopper has been released from custody, with a court appearance schedule for Sept. 27 in Goderich.
