Wingham Hospital receives support through Breast Cancer Canada’s Raise More Challenge

WINGHAM – Thanks to the fundraising efforts of Kaitlin Fisher and her family, of Benmiller, the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation has received $1,000 to benefit the chemotherapy clinic from Breast Cancer Canada as part of their Raise More Challenge.

When Kaitlin’s mother Gayle was diagnosed with breast cancer, Kaitlin wanted to do something. She joined the Breast Cancer Canada Raise More Challenge. Many of her family and friends collected pledges to shave their heads in solidarity with Gayle. The Fisher family group raised $12,160 for breast cancer research and won third place in the Raise More Challenge. Kaitlin won a Nespresso machine and was given the opportunity to direct a $1,000 donation to her local cancer clinic at the Wingham and District Hospital, where her mother was receiving chemotherapy.

“We’re happy to report that Gayle has completed her treatments and is looking forward to feeling better soon,” states a media release from the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation. “Everyone at the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation is pleased be have benefitted from Kaitlin’s generosity of spirit. The funds received will go towards the oncology department and help treat many more patients.”
