WARM AND WELCOMING - BigDoor, already known as a place where people in need can enjoy a warm meal on Tuesdays, with even warmer conversation, will host a new ad hoc warming centre. It will open evenings, only when there’s extreme cold weather. Notification that it’s open will be via social media and emergency services. There’s already discussion underway about a volunteer-run cooling centre for summer. From left: Dan and Sandra Wong (BigDoor and warming centre volunteers), Barb Vandenboer (Big Door) and Coun. Greg McLean (municipal representative and warming centre volunteer). (Pauline Kerr photo)
