WDCS students learn about nutrition labels

Ms. Wilson’s Grade 6 class at Walkerton District Community School has been busy studying nutrition and the importance of reading nutrition labels carefully. Students have discovered 61 “hidden names” for sugar and have learned how food companies try and hide sugar in our everyday foods. The class made a bulletin board showing the amount of sugar in some of our daily foods. “It has been a hit with the students of WDCS as they stop to take a look at some of the astonishing amounts of sugar in our food,” said Wilson.
