CENTRAL HURON – A North Huron resident is facing some new charges along with his previous charges from outstanding warrants following an arrest made by Huron County OPP earlier this week.
In a media release, police say an officer “came across a male party that was known to be wanted” walking along Summerhill Road just before 7 p.m. on May 30.
Police say the officer stopped the man “and upon informing the man he was under arrest for the outstanding warrants, the man uttered a threat to the officer.”
The man was taken into custody, and according to police a search incident to arrest revealed the accused to be in possession of two folding knives and stolen property.
Charged is Sunday Salter, 30, from North Huron. He has been charged with assault a peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with a release order.
Salter remained in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for June 1 in Goderich.
