We are now almost back to normal with our meat draws. The hardest thing is remembering to put a mask back on when you get up to claim your prize.
There were lots of laughs and lots of winners. John C. was lucky enough to win this week and then even spun his own ticket! Thanks to the wonderful team of members who regularly give up their Saturday afternoons to bring you the Legion’s Meat Roll – Dennis, Marv, with Christine and Brian helping this week.
Mark your calendar: the next Meat Draw will be Aug. 21.
We are still trying to catch that elusive Ace of Spades, with the jackpot approaching $11,500 this week. Ron Kroeplin’s (a.k.a. Gator’s) envelope did reveal an Ace, but it was a Diamond, so he won $485 with envelope No. 17. More tickets were sold than the previous week with, once again, very few left at draw time.

I see you can take a self-guided tour of nine luxurious, outdoor living spaces on Aug. 20 with proceeds to support the new Saugeen Hospice build. Tickets are $20 through the Facebook page of the Walkerton and District Optimist Club. Tickets are also available at A Delicate Edge or Holst Office Supply.
The Aug. 31 deadline is fast approaching to remember and honour your special veteran this year with a banner hanging in downtown Walkerton. Banner co-ordinator Rick Clayfield confirms that enough applications have already been picked up to fill 70 per cent of the available spots, plus a home version is available. More than one veteran can be on the same banner.
Calling all golfers! Spots are limited for the Doug Hewitson Memorial Golf Tournament on Sept. 18. Sign up in the lounge or give us a call at 519-881-0821 to book your foursome. The tournament is open to everyone, whether or not you are a Legion member. This best-ball, four-person team scramble includes lunch and prizes to follow at the Legion.
