WALKERTON – Three long-time members of Walkerton FC are leaving the club – Jeff Roberts – past president for many years, and coach; Steve Cobean – referee co-ordinator, Lakeshore Soccer League president and scheduler, coach, referee (he did the majority of this summer’s games); and Bettyanne Cobean – treasurer.
After 15 years of dedication to the Walkerton FC community, the three are saying goodbye to the organization they helped build into what it is today.
Sarah Coleman, president, said that these three “have been pillars within the soccer community in Brockton and area, as coaches and executive members. Many players and families within the Walkerton FC community have had the experience of being coached, chatting, or working alongside Jeff, Steve and Bettyanne throughout their many years of service with the club.”
However, their children have aged out of the club, and they have decided it’s time to leave.
“We are so grateful for the dedication and hard work of Jeff, Steve and Bettyanne to make Walkerton FC what we know and love today, and we wish them luck as they pursue their next volunteer adventures,” said Coleman.
Walkerton FC is holding their AGM on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 7:30 p.m. at 519 Table and Pour. There are many positions needing to be filled as the executive team goes down to four.
“We need more community involvement to help this club continue to offer the programs the community has come to know and love,” said Coleman.
