WALKERTON – The Walkerton Junior Capitals have named a new head coach.
On Jan. 26, the club announced Chad Haggitt as the team’s head coach for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.
Haggitt’s appointment comes after the team announced head coach Brad Tiley and assistant coach Brad Tichbourne had been relieved of their duties on Jan. 18.
Haggitt is no stranger to success, having been part of the coaching staff of the Clinton Radars of the WOAA Sr. “AA” League. During his time on the bench, Haggitt won four league championships with the Radars – three as assistant coach and one as head coach.
Prior to his time in Clinton, Haggitt coached the Wingham Junior Ironmen, and was named coach of the year in 2011.
“Coach Haggitt will bring over 22 years of coaching experience to the Capitals,” said the organization in the announcement. “Welcome to the Capitals organization, Coach Haggitt.”
Haggitt will be behind the bench on Saturday, Jan. 28 when the Capitals host the Wingham Ironmen at the Walkerton arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m.
