WALKERTON – The Walkerton Capitals announced on Wednesday that head coach Brad Tiley and assistant coach Brad Tichbourne have been relieved of their duties, effective immediately.
Walkerton Jr. C Capitals President James Lang thanked the two for their service to the club in a post on the team’s Facebook page.
“We would like to recognize and thank head coach Brad Tiley and assistant coach Brad Tichbourne for their time and commitment made to our organization this season,” said Lang. “we wish them the best in their future endeavours.”
Lang stated that assistant coaches Jordan Turcotte and Rory Chapelle will remain with the team and assume coaching duties for the remainder of the season.
Both Tiley and Tichbourne have lengthy resumes in coaching. Tichbourne is a certified High Performance hockey coach with Hockey Canada, and has coached for 25 years. This was his second season with the Walkerton organization.
Tiley had a lengthy playing career, playing for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the OHL before being drafted by the Boston Bruins in 1991. He played more than 800 pro games between the IHL, AHL and NHL. This was his second stint as head coach of the Walkerton organization.
Walkerton currently sits sixth in the seven-team PJHL Pollock Division with a record of 4-19-1-1.
The Capitals play a rare Wednesday night game tonight on the road against the second-place Mitchell Hawks.
