WALKERTON – The Walkerton and District Hospital Foundation (WDHF) announced last week that $485,000 has been raised for the new mammography machine at South Bruce Grey Health Centre’s Walkerton Hospital.
The Senographe Pristina Digital Mammography Machine from GE Healthcare was installed and operational to the public at the end of October 2021. Since then, the new scanner has completed 3,679 scans.
Mark Gaynor, WDHF chair, is appreciative for the community’s support.
“We are beyond thankful for the amount of support we have seen over the last year during this campaign,” said Gaynor. “Each year we are grateful to be able to help our hospital continue to provide the best healthcare for our community. Thank you again to everyone who has helped us reach our goal.”
Over the past year, community support has been pouring in for the WDHF’s Mammography Campaign. Contributing to the $485,000 raised includes donations from local businesses, service clubs, organizations, individuals and in memory donations, as well as funds from several Foundation fundraising events, including the annual Moonlight Gala, Run4Health, Golf Tournament, Radiothon and Christmas Campaign.
The WDHF is overwhelmed by the support from the community and thank all who contributed in any way for helping us fund for this vital piece of medical equipment.
“With your constant support, we are continually able to provide the highest quality health care close to home.”
