Two Wingham residents charged in Exeter break-in

Huron County OPP charge four individuals, three arrested with arrest warrant issued for fourth

EXETER – Huron County OPP have laid charges against four individuals, including two Wingham residents, following a break, enter and theft at an Exeter storage facility earlier this month.

In a media release, police say they were notified of the break, enter and theft on Jan. 4. Officers attended the scene to investigate and were able to identify four suspects. Police say numerous items were stolen from the facility.

The following day, Jan. 5, Huron County OPP arrested two of the suspects in Morris-Turnberry on a traffic stop. Police say a search of the suspect’s vehicle resulted in the seizure of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine, a prohibited knife and a prohibited weapon.

Also located and seized was a stolen dirt bike inside a trailer being towed by the suspects.

On Jan. 11, police arrested a third suspect in Clinton.

The fourth suspect remains wanted by Huron County OPP, and an arrest warrant has been issued for this individual’s arrest.

Charged are Sandy Baker, 36, from Wingham; Kelsey Chapman, 21, from Clinton; and Nollan Whitfield, 36, from Wingham.

Baker has been charged with break and enter, theft under $5,000, possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule I substance – fentanyl, unauthorized possession of weapons in a vehicle (flick knife, animal spray, arrow shotgun and butterfly knife), possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Baker has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for Feb. 7 in Goderich.

Chapman has been charged with break and enter, theft under $5,000, possession of a Schedule I substance – fentanyl, and unauthorized possession of weapons in a vehicle (flick knife and animal spray).

Chapman remained in custody and was scheduled to appear in Goderich court on Jan. 20.

Whitfield has been charged with break and enter, theft under $5,000, fail to comply with probation order, and breach of recognizance.

Whitfield has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for Feb. 28 in Goderich.
