The Multicultural Association of Perth-Huron is hosting the Fundraiser for Ukraine on May 14 at the Elma Memorial Community Centre in Atwood. MAPH is currently fundraising for a handful of refugee families coming to the region. The latest family is the Pryymas – Dr. Geza Wordofa (left) and MAPH volunteer Bekal Bedassa (right) welcomed Ivan, Oksana, and daughter Iliana Pryyma to Canada. Wordofa says that when they landed, they were so happy to be here, they kissed the ground. More Ukrainian families are expected to come (three in the next few months), and although the community has donated much, there is still an urgent need for help.
