WINGHAM – A resident of Wingham is facing a number of charges after police got called about a suspicious man slouched over in a parked pickup truck.
On Oct. 12 shortly after 8 a.m., Huron County OPP officers responded to Charles Street in Wingham to check on the driver of a pickup truck. After arriving, officers spoke to the driver. Police say the driver was displaying signs of impairment through a drug.
The driver was arrested and a search was conducted. Police say a search was conducted, resulting in a quantity of suspected methamphetamine being found.
A drug recognition expert evaluated the accused, and deemed he was impaired by a drug.
The accused, 23-year-old Calvin Thomson from Wingham, has been charged with impaired operation, possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine, and operate motor vehicle without insurance.
Thomson has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 6 in Goderich.
