SOUTH BRUCE – South Bruce residents are being asked to complete a community survey.
According to a July 6 media release from the municipality, consulting firm Deloitte is conducting a survey of South Bruce residents about their understanding of the Nuclear Waste Management Organization’s (NWMO) proposed deep geological repository (DGR) project.
Residents will receive a postcard in the mail with survey information. The postcard will explain how to complete the survey online using a unique PIN code. Community members can also complete the survey by telephone with a Deloitte representative.
“The survey… will help the municipality learn how well community members understand the project, what additional information they need and what topics they are most interested in learning about,” states the release.
South Bruce is one of two final sites that the NWMO is considering to host the DGR. The municipality plans to hold a referendum in 2024 to measure community willingness to host the project.
“It is important to hear back from the community about information they want to learn more about and how to best give that information to them. I encourage residents to take the time to complete the survey,” said Mayor Mark Goetz.
The survey period will run until Aug. 11. Summary results will be published on the South Bruce website and Deloitte will present survey findings at a future meeting of the Community Liaison Committee (CLC).
