On March 7, the Walkerton Figure Skating club hosted its annual Challenge and Cheer skating competition, where youth of all ages took to the ice to perform, advance their skills and win a few awards. After being rescheduled due to harsh weather conditions, the competition finally took place at the Belmore Community Centre from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Even through the heavy fog, skaters put their best foot forward for coaches and judges. The first portion of the event was Canskate - a program designed for beginners of all ages - and saw 175 skaters participate. Pictured are some attendees of the competition learning new skills while dressed to impress. (Emily Bowen photos)
