Sept. 2 gas leak results in brief road closure

BROCKTON – A gas leak on Sept. 2 resulted in a brief road closure by the OPP.

A South Bruce OPP Twitter post was shared on the Municipality of Brockton’s Facebook page, which indicated that shortly after 4 p.m., police were evacuating the area of Bruce Road 4, Bruce 19, Durham Street East and George Street after a car hit a gas line. Less than 15 minutes later, the roads were reopened.

Mayor Chris Peabody confirmed the main gas line into Walkerton had been hit. Repairs had been in progress for about an hour and a half when police began evacuating the area, he said.
