BROCKTON – The Saugeen Municipal Airport is hosting a Kids Fly at SMA event on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Registration will be in the terminal building boardroom the day of the event. This is the first of an annual event that the airport is hosting.
Thanks to the airport’s new partnership with the volunteer group “Friends of the Saugeen Municipal Airport,” pilots will be offering plane rides to children, ages eight to 17, for free, throughout the day. Children must have written approvals from their parents/guardians and have birth certificates with them.
This event will also be a celebration for the airports 60th birthday, with cake at noon.
SMA is seeking vendors to take part in this event.
“Friends of the Saugeen Municipal Airport” are looking for a new name for their volunteer group. This organization is comprised of volunteers who are local pilots and residents, and they are recruiting additional members who represent the communities of Brockton, Hanover and West Grey. New members must be sponsored by an active member who is in good standing. The new name will be revealed at their October annual general meeting when the winner will be awarded a flight from Kuhl Aero Academy. To submit a contest entry, email the airport manager, mgr@saugeenmunicipalairport.com or call 519-364-3220.
If you are interested in aviation, this would be a great organization for you to be part of and to also be included in assisting with airport events.
