Saugeen Hospice Inc. receives charitable status

BROCKTON – The board of directors of Saugeen Hospice is pleased to announce that the not-for-profit Ontario corporation has officially received charitable status from the Canada Revenue Agency.

“We are ecstatic that Saugeen Hospice has met the rigorous standards of the Government of Canada to be designated a charitable entity for tax purposes. Our generous donors in southern Grey and Bruce counties and beyond will now be able to receive tax receipts for any and all donations $20 or greater, from Jan. 1 of this year onwards,” said Carl Kuhnke, chair of Saugeen Hospice.

Kuhnke added that this foundational tax approval opens up a huge window for corporate, organizational, estate and individual donors to contribute to the building of our “hospice closer to home” in southern Grey-Bruce.

On June 21, the Golf Fore Hospice event in support of Saugeen Hospice will take place at the Walkerton Golf and Curling Club. This will be the organization’s first major fundraising event since receiving charitable status.

Founded in 2021, Saugeen Hospice and its hundreds of supporters are passionate about our vision to provide compassionate and professional end-of-life services to our communities in a residential hospice facility, serving southern Bruce and Grey counties.
