WALKERTON – After a long pandemic break, the Midwestern Ontario Rotary Music Festival in Walkerton is back.
The festival, now in its 39th year, will be held April 17 – 26 in Walkerton. The event is hosted by Rotarians with the help of the Hanover/Walkerton branch of registered music teachers, and is one of the largest and successful festivals in Ontario.
School music teachers, private music instructors and community band and choir directors who are new to the area or have been hesitant to participate in the past are encouraged to take advantage of this excellent learning experience.
There are classes and opportunities for everyone – beginner to accomplished, classical to contemporary idioms. Classes in piano, voice, strings, instrumental, guitar, organ and dance are adjudicated by professional adjudicators and are given helpful and encouraging comments.
There is friendly competition with many scholarships given out. The music festival fosters a sense of musical community with participants from across Grey, Bruce and Huron counties.
The closing date to register is Feb. 1. For more information, syllabus and registration forms, email Yvonne Kieffer at info@midwesternontariorotarymusicfestival.ca.
