Robbery in Wingham

Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Major Crime Unit is investigating a robbery in Wingham, on Aug. 24, on Victoria Street, near Helena Street.

On Aug. 28, Huron County OPP was contacted by the 13-year-old victim’s mother, who advised police that her son had been attacked while delivering newspapers on Thursday, Aug. 24, at approximately 4p.m.

The victim was cycling westbound on Victoria Street near Helena Street when three unknown males exited a trail and pulled the victim’s backpack off his back. The pack was full of newspapers, and the suspects threw the newspapers over the bridge into the river. The victim escaped on his bicycle with the suspects chasing him. The victim received minor injuries from the incident.

The three suspects, believed to be between the ages of 18-27 years, are described as follows:

-#1: Male, wearing a grey shirt and blue pants.

-#2: Male, wearing a red shirt and black pants.

-#3: Male, wearing a black shirt.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance should they have any knowledge of this incident or suspects.
