WEST PERTH – On June 25 just before 10 p.m., Perth County OPP was dispatched to a traffic complaint on Perth Road 164 in the Municipality of West Perth.
An officer conducted a traffic stop, and during the investigation, the officer had reason to believe the driver was impaired. A standard field sobriety test was conducted on the driver, who was then arrested and transported to a local operations centre for a Drug Recognition Evaluation.
Stephanie Smith, 51, of North Perth, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood drug concentration.
A 90-day administrative driver’s license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
