Police seek assistance from public in Monkton theft

MONKTON – Police are looking for assistance from the public identifying a person of interest in relation to a theft from a business in North Perth.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted on Sept. 7 just after 11:30 a.m., after a theft occurred at a business on Maddison Street West in Monkton on Sunday, Sept. 6 around 8 p.m. Three full propane tanks, used batteries and brass caps for fire systems were taken, with an approximate loss of $900.

The person of interest is described as: Male, 40-50-years-old, with short brown hair; wearing a camouflage hat and pants, grey shirt with ‘A-5’ on the back; brown boots/shoes; and yellow work gloves and a neck gaiter-style mask.

The Perth County OPP would like to remind the public to report any suspicious activity to police immediately, and consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms. Citizens are asked to ensure vehicles, sheds, garages and doors are locked to assist in the prevention of some crimes.
