Police say driver abandoned vehicle after striking hydro pole

CARRICK TOWNSHIP – South Bruce OPP continues to investigate a fail to remain single motor crash that took place in the morning of July 11 near Mildmay.

At approximately 8:25 a.m. South Bruce OPP members responded to the crash scene located on Highway 9 between Side Road 35 and Side Road 40 southeast of Mildmay. Upon arrival officers reported a heavily damaged black pickup truck that had collided with a hydro pole in the south ditch.

Additionally, police say a witness reported a male occupant from the vehicle was observed running from the scene heading southbound along Highway 9.

West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine attended the scene to assist with the search for the suspect however he was not located.

The suspect is described as a being a white male, around 30 years of age, with a slim build and wearing a black jacket.
Police closed a section of Highway 9 between Mildmay and Grey County Road 10 for the investigation however it has since re-opened.
