Police charge driver of truck that crashed into downtown Listowel storefronts

Tractor-trailer damaged three storefronts on Main Street West on Jan. 21, 2022

LISTOWEL – Police have charged the driver of a tractor-trailer that crashed into building in downtown Listowel earlier this year.

On Jan. 21 around 8 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the single-vehicle crash on Main Street West between Wallace Avenue and Argyle Avenue.

Three downtown businesses – Diana Sweets, the Clothing Loft and Corley Sport Excellence – sustained damage to their storefronts as a result of the crash.

One person, later identified as the driver of the commercial vehicle, was taken to local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Fortunately, no injuries to occupants of the buildings were reported by police.

On April 1, Perth County OPP issued a media release stating their investigation has resulted in the driver of the tractor-trailer being charged.

The driver, Wieslaw Wozniak, 61, of Mississauga has been charged with careless driving and enter inaccurate of false information in daily log.

Wozniak is scheduled to appear in court on April 12 to answer to the charges.
