Planning underway for Mildmay-Carrick 2023 Homecoming

11th Homecoming will take place Aug. 3-7, 2023

MILDMAY – It’s official: Mildmay-Carrick will be holding another homecoming celebration.

The Rotary Club of Mildmay initiated homecoming plans by holding an organizational meeting on Sept. 28.

Traditionally, meetings start at least three years in advance, but due to COVID-19 restrictions this was not possible.

A large number of very enthusiastic volunteers attended this first meeting and within a short time it was decided to go forward and plan a Mildmay-Carrick Homecoming in 2023. In keeping with tradition, the community celebration will be held over the Civic Holiday weekend from Thursday, Aug. 3 to Monday, Aug. 7, 2023.

The executive for this, Mildmay-Carrick’s 11th Homecoming, is as follows:

  • Chair – Ryan Kreager
  • Past Chair – Brian Durrer
  • Co-Chairs – Bill Lorentz and Curtis Schmalz
  • Treasurer – Dawn Kennedy
  • Secretary – Kathy Poechman

Another meeting was held on Oct. 26 and a number of people stepped forward to chair and volunteer on various committees. Some of the committees still requiring a chairperson are set up and tear down, antique car show, horseshoe tournament, and school reunion, to name a few.

If you are interested in volunteering or chairing a committee, please email Ryan Kreager at ryankreager@wightman.ca.

A logo contest is also underway, ending Jan. 14, 2022 with a winning prize of $150 Mildmay Business Dollars. The design should include a logo and a slogan, and include up to a maximum of three colours (colours are subject to change). Entries can be mailed to the Town Crier, Mildmay at thecrier@wightman.ca (with “logo contest” in the subject line) or dropped off at the office.

The next meeting for the Mildmay-Carrick 2023 Homecoming will be on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. at Harley’s Pub & Perk. Everyone is welcome to attend.
