PERTH-HURON – The board of directors of the Foundation For Education Perth-Huron recently announced the appointment of Laura Pethick as executive director. Pethick started work with the Foundation on July 19.
“The Board is very excited to welcome Laura to the organization,” said Ryan Erb, board chair for the Foundation For Education Perth-Huron. “Laura brings a wealth of experience from the organizations she has worked for in the past that will be of benefit to the Foundation.”
A 15-year veteran of the non-profit sector, Pethick holds a BA from Wilfrid Laurier University and specializes in fundraising and donor relations. She spent the last 12 years working as the community fundraising specialist for the Canadian Cancer Society. She has worked as the executive director for the Brain Injury Association of Peel and Halton and has been involved with the Community Living Charity. Pethick has extensive experience in marketing, leadership, strategy and volunteer management. She has served on many committees in our community, and currently participates on the parent council at Avon Public School within the Avon Maitland District School Board.
“I am very proud and honoured to be part of this charity that brings enriching education opportunities to students because I believe every student should have equal opportunity to experience activities in the arts, life skills and diversity,” said Pethick. “I look forward to implementing the current strategic plan to create long term sustainability by diversifying revenue and building strong relationships with donors while also promoting awareness of the organization within the greater community.”
Karen Stewart, interim executive director, will continue working with the organization. She has a passion for and belief in the transformative power of the arts. She brings with her the history of the foundation and a strong background in marketing, finance and strategic planning which will all be very helpful to the Foundation as the strategic plan is implemented.
