Perth County celebrates Cultivating Opportunity grant recipients

PERTH COUNTY – Each year, Perth County council awards grant funding through the Cultivating Opportunity grant program. Earlier this summer, Warden Rhonda Ehgoetz travelled around Perth County to present cheques and to congratulate the successful recipients of the 2023 Cultivating Opportunity grants.

The following organizations were successful recipients of funding this year: Perth County Transition Home for Women, Perth County 4-H Association, North Perth Seniors Centre, and the Humane Society of Kitchener-Waterloo and Stratford.

Each organization received $2,500, the maximum grant amount, toward their respective projects. The final decision on this year’s recipients was made at the Feb. 16, 2023 meeting of county council.

“Perth County council is pleased to support our community,” said Ehgoetz. “Each of the successful applicants will use the funding towards important programming that provides valuable community services to people across Perth County.”

The Cultivating Opportunity grant program accepts new applications annually. The next application period will open on Sept. 1, 2023. The 2023 information package is now available online and organizations are encouraged to review in advance of applying.

Community organizations play an essential role in improving the quality of life of residents. The county’s role in supporting these organizations is guided by the strategic plan and council’s vision of creating an active, rural, caring and diverse community.

The Cultivating Opportunity grant program closely aligns with the strategic plan by aligning with the following goals: growth and economic development, customer service excellence, community development and planning, and corporate sustainability.
