OPP search warrants seize over $95,000 worth of drugs, stolen property

NORTH HURON – On Wednesday, March 31, 2022, members from the Grey-Bruce & Huron-Perth OPP Community Street Crime Units (CSCU), along with assistance from West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and West Region OPP Canine executed search warrants.

Officers searched a dwelling house located on Charles Street in Wingham, as well as, a farm property located on London Road near Blyth. As a result of the execution of the search warrants, two people are facing dates in criminal court.

Police say Hydromorphone-Dilaudid tablets and Morphine tablets with an estimated street value of $600 were seized.

Police also seized offence-related and stolen property that consisted of a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), a Gator Utility Vehicle, an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV), two Landscape trailers, Break and Enter tools, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) plates, and Licence plates. The estimated value of the recovered property is $95,100.

Sandy Baker, 36, from Wingham has been charged with:

  • Five counts of Altering/Destroying/Removing a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
  • Three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Two counts of Trafficking in Stolen Goods Over $5,000
  • Trafficking in Stolen Goods Under $5,000
  • Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime
  • Two counts of Fraudulent Concealment
  • Fraud Over $5,000
  • Possession of Break-in Instruments
  • Fail to Comply With Release Order

He remained in custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 1 at the Ontario Court of Justice.

Kelsey Chapman, 21, from Blyth has been charged with:

  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

She remained in custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 1 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.
