Wilda Verna Winnifred Bishop

Wilda Verna Winnifred Bishop of Listowel passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Monday, August 25, 2025, in her 94th year.

Winnie is survived by her sister Agnes Diehl of Listowel, and sister-in-law Rosemarie Bishop of Ethel, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Bill & Verna (Johnston) Bishop, siblings Jack Bishop, Eva & Clarence Flood, Helen & Bill Potter, Ethel & Ross Flood, and Clarence Bishop, nephew Murray Diehl, and great-niece Stephanie McCracken.

After high school, Winnie trained as a nurse in Clinton Hospital.  After working there for 3-4 years, she went out west to work in Alberta.  She then returned, and started working at Listowel Memorial Hospital in 1956 until her retirement in 1988.

Winnie took many courses, including painting and cake decorating.  She often baked for her neighbours, and she loved baking birthday cakes for great-nieces and great-nephews.

Winnie was always there when a neighbour or friend needed her.  She loved to travel which took her to many different countries, and playing card games with friends and family, but most of all she loved her nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at Knox Presbyterian Church, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
