It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vera Bird in the early morning hours of March 31, 2023 at Huronview Home for the Aged in Clinton, Ontario in her 98th year. She is survived by many family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Ron and many other family, friends and pets.
Born on October 20, 1925 in Lithuania, this raven haired beauty’s life was filled with adventure, hardship and love. It was her strong faith in God that helped her to endure both the good and bad times in her life. Vera survived the Nazi work camps in WWII and ended up in England where she met the love of her life, Ron. They married and embarked on a life in Canada in 1966. Despite never having children of their own, Ron and Vera’s love for their family, friends and neighbours was evident in their home and in the relationships they formed over the years.
The last years of Vera’s life were passed at Huronview Home of the Aged where Vera continued to make new acquaintances and friends. She spent her time in prayer, listening to books, talking with family overseas and visiting with those who were able to see her. We would like to thank the staff at Huronview for the care that she received over the years.
Funeral Service was held at the McCallum & Palla Funeral Home on Wednesday April 12, 2023 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to service. Friends may sign the book of condolences at www.mccallumpalla.ca
