Thomas Ritchie Turbitt

According to his wishes, Tom passed away peacefully at his home in Listowel on Sunday, July 13, 2025, surrounded with the love of his family, in his 94th year.

Tom was the son of Thomas Turbitt and Mary Ritchie and was born on the family farm in Elma Township. He was predeceased by his parents, by his sister Molly Eastman, his brother David, his sisters Kathleen ‘Kaye’ Buschlen and Eileen Harper, and by his son-in –law Greg Fraser.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Patricia Conners, and by his children Kevin Turbitt & Katherine Short of Ancaster, David Turbitt & Melinda Voros of Ladner, B.C., and Casey Fraser & Rob Dosman of Listowel. His pride and joy were his six grandchildren Derek Fraser & Sarah MacDonald, Alex & Jordan Baylis, Keeley, Kate, Gloria, and Keegan Turbitt, and his four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jacob, Clark and Connor.

He is also survived by brothers-in-law Dr. John and Mary-Ellen Conners, and Jim and Susan Conners, all of Listowel, and Ken Conners and Natalie Myhal of Toronto.  Tom reckoned that he had about sixty first cousins, most of whom he had met during his lifetime. Tom had many longtime friends and could make new ones wherever he went.

Tom farmed with his father after high school then took a job looking after costs on two construction projects. From there he decided to pursue a career in the accounting field and eventually graduated as an industrial accountant. He worked for Canadian Breweries, Campbell Soup, Western Foundry and Starcraft, where he ended his working life as General Manager.

He and Pat enjoyed many things during their long marriage; skiing, cottaging, and extensive travels, world-wide. Theatre and music were great sources of pleasure for them and they were never hesitant to try new experiences.

Please join Tom’s family as they celebrate his life at Parkview Gardens, 565 Elizabeth St. E., Listowel, on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.  Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
