Rose Smith, formerly of Route 2 Listowel, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at her residence in Listowel, on Tuesday February 8, 2022 at the age of 92.
Rose was born in England and worked as a seamstress and also at the railway office where she met David. After coming to Canada, David and Rose made a life farming. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, reading and spending time with her family.
Beloved wife of the late David Smith who predeceased her in 1990. Loving mother of Mary Ellen (Harry) Jacklin, Jim (Sandra), Sally (Scott) Andrews, Sandra (Don) Harrison. Cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 12 great great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by her brother Harold and his wife Pearl Norman and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Herbert and Mary (Tazzymen) Norman, brothers Tom (Irene), David (Loretta), Herbert “Tommy” (Mae), and sisters Joyce, Marion and Mabel.
A private family funeral service was held at the Elma Memorial Community Centre, Atwood on Saturday February 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Ruth Long officiating. The service was recorded and the link available in Rose’s obituary on the funeral home website. Spring interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Calvary United Church, North Perth Community Hospice or Canadian Cancer Society appreciated by the family.
