Robert Tompkins

With grieving hearts, we announce the passing of our husband and father, Robert George Tompkins, on Thursday, January 30, 2025 in his 71st year, after suffering a catastrophic hemorrhagic stroke on Saturday, January 25th.

Robert lived and served in the Listowel community all of his life.

Rob will be missed by his wife, Joan, of 45 years and his two daughters; Heather (Adam Noble) of Kitchener and their daughters, Hannah, Elizabeth, and Audrey, and Jessica (Kevin Rietema) of Edmonton, AB and their children Jordyn and Seth.  They will remember him for his love of nature and his adventurous spirit.

He is survived by four siblings; Gerry & Elaine Tompkins of Waterloo, Ken & Jane Tompkins of Guelph, Richard & Lori Tompkins of Abbotsford, B.C., Margie & Kelvin Bowers of North Battleford, Sask., and by their families.

He is predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Blanche Tompkins and by his sister Janet.

Robert actively lived out his love for God in his neighbourhood, church, and home. He enjoyed his retirement after 33 years as an industrial electrician at Spinrite Yarns and 4 years at Benshaw Canada Controls as a Medium Voltage Supervisor.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rob Annis, Dr. Barb Matthews, Dr. Lisa Trojanar and the incredible nursing and support staff at Listowel Memorial Hospital.  We are also grateful for the overwhelming care of our neighbours, friends, & WBC church family.

Visitation took place at Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel, on Monday, February 3 from 2:00- 4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m.  The Celebration of Robert’s Life was held at Wallenstein Bible Chapel, 4522 Herrgott Rd., Wallenstein, on Tuesday February 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
