Ray Johnston of Wallace Township passed into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 in his 76th year and is now enjoying his eternal home. Beloved husband of Dorothy (Morrison) for 43 years. Dear father of Brad and Carolyn Johnston of Kitchener and Alaina Johnston of Ottawa.
Cherished grandfather of Sadie and Amelia. Brother of Marie and Jim Dale and Susan Johnston. Brother-in-law of Dave and Eileen Morrison, Jim and Shirley Morrison, Marilyn and Lenard Gardecki, Jan and Arthur Wombwell and Dave Wettlaufer. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by his parents Allan and Nellie Johnston, sister Fran Wettlaufer, mother-in-law and father-in-law Marjorie and George Morrison and sister-in-law and brothers-in-law Ruth and Joe Rector and Wayne Morrison.
Ray was a devoted follower of Jesus through his entire life; he was a man of integrity and faith. He was a longstanding and faithful Church member, most recently at the Listowel Baptist Church. Ray attended Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, studying Business Administration. Upon his graduation in 1972 he worked along with his father at Allan Johnston Limited Milk Transport by starting as a truck driver. Upon his father’s passing in 1979, Ray took over as President of the family business.
Even in his retirement, milk transport was in his heart and he would always keep up to date on the local dairy industry.
The family received friends at the Listowel Baptist Church, 6161 County Road 86, Listowel on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service was held in Listowel Baptist Church on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Spring interment in Zion United Church Cemetery, Wallace Township.
As expressions of sympathy donations to Ronald McDonald House South Central Ontario or InterVarsity Christian Fellowship would be appreciated by the family.
