July 18, 1940 – February 17, 2025
Born on July 18, 1940, to Edward George Robinson (1908-1992) and Annie Isla Robinson (nee Stewart – 1907-1968), Myrna Jane was the light of her parents’ lives. Myrna spent her early childhood years living in Tillsonburg, ON before the family moved to Wingham, ON where she was surrounded by a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
During her high school days, Myrna was active in sports. From basketball to volleyball to skating, she was always on the move. As folks at Hagey can attest, Myrna did not slow down even later in life. The week before her passing, she was playfully tossing a football around in preparation for Super Bowl Sunday.
Anyone who knew Myrna knew her intense love of animals. At Hagey, Myrna would light up when animals came for a visit. The most exceptional animal for Myrna and Ted was their beloved keeshond, Kodiak (Kody). Kody was like their third child and went everywhere they went – boating, Bayfield, winters in Florida. The vehicle door opened, and he sprang in, ready for whatever journey they were about to embark on.
A very special place for Myrna and the entire family was Bayfield. For several years, Myrna, Megan and Todd would spend the entire summer at the trailer in Bayfield, with Ted roaring in Friday night to join the fun. At times, it was the only indication of what day of the week it was as time meant little in the carefree beauty of summer living in Bayfield. It was a place where life-long friendships were formed.
Myrna was an amazing, loving mother to Megan and Todd. Love and laughter weaved itself through everything she did for her children, creating a solid foundation for them to build their lives on. The sense of knowing that you were loved, valued and seen were only a few of the gifts she passed on to them; gifts for them to share with their own children – her grandchildren.
Myrna was a very proud Grandma to three beautiful granddaughters. Megan and John’s daughters, Lily and Harper, and Todd and Sherry’s daughter Brook. Myrna loved spending time with her grandchildren tossing a ball, doing puzzles, smiling and laughing. The girls have many fun and funny memories of time spent with Grandma.
Myrna was many things to many people, but she was everything to one person in particular, her loving husband of almost 62 years, Ted. Myrna and Ted had many adventures in their almost 62 years together. They enjoyed their time snowmobiling, boating, golfing, and travelling. Whether they headed out with friends or made new ones along the way, each knew that their best friend was sitting beside them for whatever was up ahead. In the last several years of Myrna’s life, Ted still had the gift to bring a big smile to Myrna’s beautiful face. True love!
In 2019, Myrna moved to University Gates (Hagey Neighbourhood). A very special group of people work in Hagey. Their tireless dedication to the residents in this facility is to be commended. Thank you seems insignificant for all the tremendous care they gave Myrna. For all you did for Myrna and all you continue to do for the other residents at Hagey, it is truly appreciated.
Before and after moving to University Gates, Sam was Myrna’s private PSW. She was also Myrna’s confidant, friend and constant companion. She knew how to truly connect with Myrna. Myrna would not have had the quality of life she achieved without Sam. Sam sat by Myrna’s bed the last few days of her life, talking with her, playing music (Elvis, of course) and helping her family connect with her. This very special woman means so much to the Weiss family. She has made such an impact on all our lives, but especially for Myrna. Sam, you are an angel on earth that helped our angel spread her wings and fly home. God bless you!
A celebration of life to take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer Society of Ontario are appreciated.
